Math Test

The grade 5 and 6 multiplication/division test has been moved to Wednesday of this week. After looking at some student work this past weekend, I felt that the students could use a few more review days.

Small works assignments due this week!

There are some small tasks that have been due this week. I'm still waiting for quite a few to be handed in. The following tasks need to be submitted by Friday. Students are aware that phone calls will be made home on Monday for those that are not keeping up.

Language arts:

-Holes chapter summary (31 or 32)
-Holes chapter questions 32-38
-Apostophe booklet

Math:

-multiplication quizzes signed and returned (corrections made)
-multiplication word problems
-division worksheet (double sided)

FYI: The multiplication and division unit test is on Monday, March 31st.

Parent meeting at Trinity - Thursday March 27th

This is just a reminder that there is an important meeting at Holy Trinity high school Thursday evening at 7pm in the Cafetorium for parents of grade 6 students.

Long Division

We have now moved into long division in math. This will possibly be the most challenging concept for some students in math this year. Many are struggling at the moment and will need to be completing extra practice questions at home in order to be successful. I will link a few websites that are helpful in explaining the steps and providing extra practice.

Wednesday - Grade 6s will be going to Holy Trinity tomorrow for the day. This is a very important transition experience where the students will get to learn about what's to come in high school. Please make sure your child is on time in the morning!
Grade 5s will stay at school.

Thursday - Grade 5 Science Quiz

Language Arts: We are part way through the novel study HOLES. Activities and quizzes are being completed in class. A culminating task will be given at the end of the book.

Math: We are finishing up multiplication and will be starting division towards the end of the week. Continued practice with times tables is needed for most.

March Break!

There will be no homework for the March Break! Students are encouraged to simply read any material (newspapers, comics, novels) around their house and practise their times tables if anything! Enjoy the time off and see you all on the 17th!
