Grade 5 Independent Novel Study

The grade 5s will begin an independent novel study on Monday. They are to choose a fictional novel and get it approved by Friday. Reading strategies that we will be focusing on for this unit are analyzing and making inferences.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

MATH - Multiplication and division tests will be handed back tomorrow. In math, we are now starting the measurement unit. Please encourage your child to start becoming familiar with conversion. See chart below!



LANGUAGE -  grade 5s are learning about the elements of fiction (setting, characters, plot, theme, etc.) and will be starting narrative writing and an independent novel study.
grade 6s are starting a short poetry unit.

Student-led conferences will take place at the end of the week. See you then!

Just a reminder that student-led conferences will take place next week... Thursday and Friday morning for grade 5s and Friday morning for grade 6s. Sheets were sent home to be filled out and should be returned as soon as possible!

Reminder: Math test

There will be a grade 5 and 6 Multiplication / Division math unit test tomorrow (Friday). Please study your notes and cheat sheets.
